In form of a print compilation, kanonmedia published the chronological development of daily short connotations posted by her and about 100 co-authors relating to aspects of Walter Benjamin’s life and artistic / philosophical / political approaches on Facebook in 2009-2010 for the staging of #WB: quoting Walter Benjamin: Paris, die Hauptstadt des XIX. Jahrhunderts in 2010. The limited edition served as poetic-literary material for the collective analog-digital performance, and the compilation was given to the audience / guests / participants / contributors as a gift. For the re-staging of the performance in the Jewish Theater Austria in 2011, the compilation #WB: quoting Walter Benjamin was re-published with a slightly changed layout.

The designed analogue-digital reading is created by people reading from the publication dedicated to one of the most important thinkers of the XX. Century. People raise their voice as well as the media stations do, respond to each other, develop content and atmosphere further – an interplaying of media and human voices emerges.

In a mixture of reading, discussion and interactive performance correlations between relevant factors and opportunities for development of democracy in the context of the information age, globalization, Capitalism and Marxism are reflected together – on the basis of Walter Benjamin‘s oeuvre. Wo/ man learns of options and limits of self-determination, options and limits of scopes of action. Technology serves wo/ man, and only a framework, only a context is given, in which each of the performing nights is designed differently. It is by the people being there that the experience at the moment is created – that realization Walter Benjamin described as the Angelus Novus: the space where past and future coincide and where not ideas shape presence but where presence emerges.
