Genco Gülan, 1969, visual new media and performance artist, is a graduate of Bogazici University / Department of Political Sciences and International Affairs. He received a certificate from the Department of Fine Arts from the same institution in 1991. Gülan attended the New School University / Media Research and received a master’s degree in 2000. The artist has had many solo exhibitions in Turkey as well as abroad, i.e. 1998 Centre Pompidou, Paris, 2002 New Museum, New York City; Neue Galerie, Graz, 2003 Rio Museum of Modern Art, 2003 Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum; 2004 Biennale Thessaloniki – Kosmopolis; ZKM, Karlsruhe. He was awarded with the New School University New York Media Award in 1999 and the BP Turkish-Azerbaijan Artists Competition Young Artist Award in 1994. The artist lives and works in Istanbul and in addition to his art production teaches New Media at the Yeditepe University.
