The application of the same graphic filters in the same order on all photos transforms each individual shot into the same kind of abstract imagery, still containing all the individual beauty of the original images and at the same time having taken on an uniform look letting the recipient imagine – concsiously without evoking any doubt and without showing any hint to a reality that actually is very different – that all the images are only one; always being the same; one having turned completely into the other one; being exactly like the other one; being exactly the other one.

Originally, an outlay of TV_beauty was produced in cooperation with Johanna Deininger to assist the neighbors daughter in her preparation for the entrance examination at Grafische Lehranstalt / Vienna. The original photos used for image editing come from Johanna Deininger and, in their realistic make, show sceneries of landscapes and animals, one of them the family’s dog.

The original material forming the visual basis of TV_infinity are found photos shot in Tibet and Arizona. All of them caught the beauty of very different landscapes in an amazing way – fully focusing on the beauty of natural phenomena. Additionally, Reill included daily life scenes out of very different cultures – Tibetan and Chinese citizens; as well as Buddhist Thangkas …

TV_bulotu and TV_fate were created parallely and are based on private photos taken by the artist’s sister Monika Horak showing Bobo, the artist’s beloved cat on a woolen blanket crochetted by Reill‘s mother, the sujet and history of the photo forming a symbol of homeland for the artist.

The description of Bulotu as a beautiful island in the South Pacific where animals / plants / and rich souls live happily and can be seen by those few travellers who – in the imagination of the Tongan people only through the will of a mighty power – manage to reach there by accident, inspired Reill in the making of TV_bulotu – a piece trusting the beauty of life and death, still asking, though, whether maybe something like heaven is nothing more than a condition being part of maya.

TV_fate tells the story of an accident which could have been avoided but could not be avoided. A black cat named Bobo was chasing a fly and merrily jumped high in the air, had to come down and in a split second stumbled over flowers on a window bench, getting scared without having the chance to turn back, fell down from 4th floor, giving in to the fall, trying to land on its feet; hit an old iron bar with its head. It still tried to survive out of love for its brother and mom for a night and a day until it died all alone, in a cage and in pain.

TV series concentrates on the atmosphere of such glimpses on life and relates the fugitive character of life and time to the fugitive worlds promoted through TV production, distributed via millions of TV monitors. Fleetingness is a symptom of digital times. Driven too far, it enhances the state of transition to an extent letting the state of being in all its capacity and volume disappear even faster than time would suggest.
